"Ravi Teja, Shruti Hassan and Anjali starrer film Balupu will be releasing on 28th of this month. The movie is going to be released under the banner PVP and is directed by Gopichand Malineni. Producer Parram V Patlari said in an interview that the film's music has been getting tremendously good response and very soon they will have a platinum disc released. Wrapping up all these events the movie will be released on the 28th of this month. Our boy, Menooshen Sivarao clinches Kedah (U14) Yonex 2013 Singles Title

Menooshen Sivarao , a form two student from SMK Sultan Badlishah Kulim Kedah, became the Champion for Kedah (Under 14) Yonex Singles tournament held from 16th to 18th May 2013. Menooshen clinched the top title after defeating Wei Chong by 21-17, 18-21, 22-20 in a tough match which lasted 40 minutes. The yearly championship which was participated by 64 players saw Menooshen beating second seed Ong William in the semi-finals and Wei Chong defeating the singles top seed Tan Wei Liang in the quarter-finals. 

The eldest of three siblings, Menooshen Sivarao is not only the state badminton champion this year, he is also a star student who scored 5As in his UPSR and has received the prestigious academic award from the Sultan of Kedah for his academic excellence. He dedicates three to four hours a day for studying and is able to achieve this without dependence on tuition classes as he receives all the guidance from his parents. 

     Menooshen's father, Sivarao, who is also a badminton player and his coach said, 'As a father, I am really proud of my son's Menooshen’s achievements. However, as his coach, I am not satisfied yet. I want him to triple the training and go for higher achievements." He added, "I also hope that one day my second son, Sunheshen who currently stands at 5th placing in Kedah State and third son, Lenayshen who has started training with the brothers will follow in their brother's foot steps." Besides training and coaching all three of them, Sivarao travels extensively with his sons to participate in tournaments all over the country. He consistently trains them for five days a week in court training and trains together for stamina and gym training. 

       According to Sivarao, sports should not be seen as a hindering factor to excel in studies. Time management, good planning and parental guidance and support are key ingredients to ensure success in both studies and sports.

This article which was published in The Hindu Times on 31st May 2013, highlights the Theatre Sishtla Chandrasekhar’s play Chengalva Poodanda that was staged on the occasion of Telugu Theatre Day.

" ‘M aa Telugu Talliki Mallepoodanda ’, a song written by Sankarambadi Sundarachari ages ago, is so popular that it syncs perfectly with Telugu culture and history and even went on to become an anthem. But this play, written by Sishtla Chandrasekhar, dealing with the Telugu language is titled Chengalva Poodanda bearing no relevance to the drama. It would have been better if it was replaced with the word ‘Mallepoodanda’ used by Sankarambadi in his song, to stir the same emotion. However, the play succeeds in exemplifying the work done by a foreigner C.P. Brown, who even composed a Telugu to English dictionary, researched Vemana and translated his verses into English and also that of poets Sri Sri, Dasarathi and Srikrishna Devaraya. The godess Sri Nookambica Ammavaru is one of the nine Shakti forms and prominently known as Sri Anagha Devi during ancient period. During the Kakatiyas period this temple was renovated and goddess Nookambika was worshipped with the name Sri Kakatamba. On “Kottha Amavasya,” a day before Ugadi, thousands of devotees throng to this temple from various regions of the state for worship Sri Nookambica Devi. "Sri Nookambica Ammavaru is a mighty deity in north Andhra pradesh. This temple has 550 years of history. In 1450's anakapalli was ruled by a kalinga king named kakarlapudi appalaraju. He built a fort in anakapalli and built a temple for kakatamba on south side of his fort. Later on anakapalli was ruled by king jagannadha raju payakarao, when britishers ruled India. He was hanged to death when he lost the battle with britishers in the war at payakaraopet. Britisher's appointed vijayanagaram raju as king in this place. They changed the name of the deity to nookambica. Next to this king gode gajanadha raju was appointed as king by vijayanaram raju. This king didn't pay tax to the britishers for a long time so the fort was auctioned by britishers. And in this auction pydicherla anadaraju bought the fort. And till today they are acting as the trusties for the temple. In 1953 the temple was under taken by the government. Every year a jatara takes place for one month from the day before ugadi. PREPARATION: 

• Clean rice, pat dry for 2 days
• Now grind it into powder /coarse flour
• Take 1 glass of rice flour, to it add 3/4 th glass of dry coconut and mix well
• Now place an bowl on flame, add 3/4 th cup of jaggeryand waterinto it and
boil till thick pakam (pakam should be such that wen we touch it with 2
fingers we should see an stick like layer in between the fingers)
• Once pakam is ready, place flame in low, and start adding rice floor and
dry coconut mix into it and mix slowly without any lumps,
• Add 3-4 spoons of ghee on it
• Leave this for one night
• Then place kadai on flmae, heat oil for deep fry
• Now make the prepared paste into small rounds on plastic paper and keep
an hole in middle
• Sprinkle seasame seeds on it and press to sticken
• Now deep fry them in oil till golden brown
• Then take out and press on an paper napkin cover to drain off excess oil
• Make such as many as you need or till the complete dough finishes
• Yummy yummy arasalu are ready to eat, Serve hot or cool
• Can be stored in an container for around 15 days

Telugu Initiative at the University of California, Berkeley

"The strategic vision behind the Telugu Initiative is to create a world-class center for the study of Telugu language and culture at the University of California, Berkeley. The ambition is to create an environment in which research and teaching in Telugu can be performed at a level comparable to the level currently enjoyed by Sanskrit and Tamil at UC Berkeley.

University of California, Berkeley is ideally situated to accomplish this mission because it is already a recognized center of excellence in several Indian languages as well as a leading institute for research in linguistics. Indeed, Dr. Murray B. Emeneau, who did pioneering work on South Indian languages, was a Professor of Sanskrit and General Linguistics at Berkeley. His magnum opus, the Dravidian Etymological Dictionary, is a standard unsurpassed so far. To realize this vision we have to create an environment where students from all over the world can learn Telugu and do research on Telugu.


We project that we will need a corpus of $5 million to achieve this goal and we intend to do this gradually, in steps, over a period of time. We already reached our first fund-raising goal of $300,000 and this enabled us to hire a temporary lecturer and launch the program with 12 students. Our next goal is to create a $1.0 million corpus, make the lecturer position permanent and campaign to increase the enrollment by leveraging advances in Information Technology to extend the reach of Berkeley-based lessons. The next step is to develop collaborative ties with universities in Andhra Pradesh so there is a flow of students and faculty between Berkeley and Andhra Pradesh. This can be achieved via the university’s Education Abroad programs as well as student and faculty exchanges facilitated by opportunities like the Fulbright Scholar Program. Up to this point emphasis will also be placed on developing instructional materials to teach Telugu as a second language and learning environments like immersive programs. The final phase will be the creation of a $5 million corpus to support a tenure track professorial position so that scholars can rally around this professor to conduct research on matters related to Telugu language and culture and to help put Telugu on the world map."

"Indian American  Arvind Mahankali from New York has scripted history by  winning the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the year 2013, becoming the sixth Indian-American to win the title in a row.  Aravind, A grade eight student, loves Maths and science and plans to pursue a career as a physicist. The 13-year-old from Bayside Hills, New York, correctly spelled 'knaidel,' the word for a small mass of leavened dough, to win the 86th Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday night. The bee tested brain power, composure and, for the first time, knowledge of vocabulary. Arvind becomes the sixth consecutive Indian-American winner and the 11th in the past 15 years, a run that began in 1999 when Nupur Lala captured the title in 1999 and was later featured in the documentary ``Spellbound.''
